Oxford Climate Justice Campaign is the student-led campaign at the University of Oxford founded on the conviction that our educational institution must use its enormous financial and cultural clout for environmental justice in a changing climate. We are part of the fast-growing, international Fossil Free movement, which works to cut support of the fossil fuel industry in major institutions. The IPCC estimated in its 2018 report that a zero-carbon economy should be reached by 2050.

OCJC is an official campaign of the Oxford University Student Union. Building upon student activity during Trinity term 2013, the OUSU Environment and Ethics Campaign has adopted fossil fuel divestment as its main project.

After the passage of the Fossil Fuel Divestment and Net Zero Investment Resolution, the primary aim of the divestment campaign at Oxford is to remove the fossil fuel industry from the investment portfolios of its colleges.

We work as a non-hierarchical group and also provide support and resources for associated divestment campaigns at Oxford colleges.

Our Demands:

  1. All remaining Oxford Colleges divest from fossil fuels.
  2. Oxford University and all Colleges commit to no longer take sponsorships, grants or donations from fossil fuel companies.
  3. The University and all Colleges end all research being carried out for fossil fuel companies.
  4. Oxford Careers Service stop all work and partnerships with fossil fuel companies.
  5. Oxford University publicity recognise the environmental and human rights abuses carried out by the fossil fuel companies.
